Creating a BKTD love child started with a very specific image of what I wanted him to look like; blond hair like Bakugou's that is styled like Todoroki's, and heterochromia of gray and red. This image of him brewed in my mind for a few days until I started doing my research and figured out the kind of quirk I wanted him to have.From there, most of Akira's design became heavily based on the autumn season. My first thought while sketching him was that I really wanted Bakugou and Todoroki to have a child inspired by or based on a season like the Todoroki siblings are, and autumn is a time between summer (hottest season) and winter (coldest season) which also ties to his quirk being ice-based (cold) with explosive properties (hot).With that in mind, my first name choice for him was "Akito" (秋冬). Taking apart the kanji of autumn which is "aki" (秋), it has the radical characters for grain (禾) and fire (火) – fire being a keyword. Akito has both the kanjis of autumn and winter (冬 is read as "fuyu," but putting it together with 秋 reads as "Akito") and it seemed fitting for my choice of quirk for him as I mentioned above. But then I later found out that I had a friend whose next gen OC baby already had that name, so Akito was inevitably scrapped.It became more difficult to come up with a name after that since I had been set on Akito for a while. But then I realized it may be for the best to have a more "symbolic" first name than just associating it to his quirk.Eventually, my next option was "Momiji" (紅葉) which are "Japanese maple trees," but the kanji can also be read as "kouyou" which means "changing of colors" or more literally: "red leaves" — all being prominent representations of Japan's autumn foliage. I have also always liked this name and have used it for past secret OCs I never gave life to, so I figured I could use it this time for my very first public OC. However, part of me felt that Momiji sounded a bit too 'soft' for the image I had for him, more so later building up his backstory, personality, and his relationship with BKTD made the name sound less fitting.So then I went back to alter my first choice name, and my other option then became "Akira". This name actually has many ways you can write it and I ultimately went for「秋良」which means "good autumn". Apart from wanting to retain the kanji of autumn, I also imagined he was born on a nice, chilly day in November, the time when the leaves are changing colors to their most beautiful reds and golds. In some ways, Akira still held the essence of "momiji" and "kouyou" that I wanted.After some long consideration and help from friends, Akira was born!This is also why I use the maple leaf emoji to represent him since it ties heavily to his origins of being a literal autumn baby 🍁My BKTD headcanon is that Shouto will take the Bakugou surname when they get married. It became more fitting then as well that Akira's quirk, Freeze Bomb, is essentially explosive ice, and Bakugou (爆豪) means "explosion master" or "bomb". Of course, Akira is as much a Todoroki as he is a Bakugou, and while the Todoroki (轟) kanji means "roaring" or "loud crackling noise," another definition I found from KansaiChick is "widely known to the world". Just like how people far away can hear the loud sound, people hear about his name.And if you have been keeping up with Akira's backstory tidbits from his Q&A, a lot of his issues stem from being "well-known" by association to his family, the public's treatment of him because of it, and his attempts to break away from that in order to find his own identity and figure out what kind of hero he wants to be.So far all of this is a bit partial to his "hot" side since it is the beginning of his hero journey, but the "cold" side will be elaborated on more once I reveal his hero name. Perhaps in a Part 2!

✧ QUIRK EXPLANATION ✧

Freeze Bomb is a quirk that allows Akira to manipulate temperature and freeze whatever he touches; however, his ice contains compounds of pure sodium which, when it reacts to hydroxide (H²O) and water, causes the ice to ignite and explode.Some questions I got about Akira's quirk are: "Can he make ice that doesn't explode or does his ice always explode? Can he control how long it takes before it explodes? Does he get low on sodium if he uses his quirk too much?"Two factors of Akira's quirk are the ice and the sodium. Akira's body naturally converts sodium chloride (salt) into pure sodium which serves as his "fuel" for his explosions, so the intensity of the ice explosions depend on the sodium levels in his body (through the salt he consumes). Since his body will always contain salt, his ice will also always contain sodium compounds. On surface level, this means his ice will always explode — but all of this is highly dependent on when his ice starts to melt.A more advanced use of his quirk comes with manipulating the temperature of his ice. Sodium only reacts to liquid water because liquid water contains hydroxide ions. This hydroxide ion mixing with sodium is what causes the chemical reaction in order for explosion to occur. This means his ice needs to melt before it can explode.So what does this mean for Akira's quirk?Shouto can make ice at 0°C freezing point without much hassle, but with Akira, it needs to be more precise given its radioactive nature. Not only does he have to take into account his surroundings, but he also has to make sure his ice explodes when it needs to. If it's a hot day then his ice melts faster, making it explode more quickly. It can be dangerous for himself too if he's in the range of the explosion. On the other hand, if it's too cold then it may take much longer for the ice to explode than when he needs it to. The freezing point of water is at 0°C, but with training, Akira can push that to the extreme negatives, up to when the ice is too frozen to react to the sodium.So to answer the question, yes he can make ice that doesn't explode (at least not immediately) once he masters manipulating the temperature of his ice. This is something he will come to learn and hone when he enters UA. I imagined his ice to be similar to a time bomb!When it comes to the limitations of his quirk, there are two drawbacks. One is that his body can overfreeze from the ice, and second is if his sodium levels are too low, then it will result in hypotension. On worst case scenarios where he continues to use his quirk despite the lack of sodium, then his body will resort to using the sodium in his blood, which will lead to very fatal consequences.No worries! All of this can be prevented as long as he doesn't push himself to the limit and he consumes enough salt before using his quirk — which he does by eating chips and other salty snacks.Hopefully this gives you more insight to Akira's quirk!^{Reference & Inspiration: What Happens When You Put Sodium On Ice?}

— They are, and Shouto took Katsuki's last name.When did BKTD decide to have Akira?
— In their early 20s!How was he born / who gave birth to him?
— Akira is the biological child of both Katsuki and Shouto and this was made possible because of a special institute founded by a doctor with a Cell Manipulation Quirk, which allows same sex couples to conceive a child. In the case of male couples however, a surrogate is still needed, so Akira was carried by a surrogate (not blood-related) for nine months! (In AU settings like Omegaverse, it would be Shouto carrying Akira.)Why does Akira not want to look like Katsuki? Does he hate him?
— Akira is close to both of his parents growing up. He and Katsuki were attached at the hip when Akira was younger and Pro Hero Dynamight is exactly the kind of hero he wanted to be. Akira's dissociation from Katsuki started in Middle School when he became surrounded by other young aspiring heroes like himself. Pro Hero Dynamight has a bit of a reputation and is higher in rank than Pro Hero Shouto, so people have started comparing Akira to Katsuki in that regard. Everything his parents did also led back to him, the good and especially the bad. At school, everyone kept calling him "Dynamight's son" more so when his features became more defined as he matured, making him the spitting image of Katsuki. Being compared to his father whom he admired and aspired to be shouldn't have been a problem, but Akira also experienced unfairness under these circumstances. Kids only got close to him because he's the popular kid or they want to get close to his parents. There are times they get disappointed when he "isn't like Pro Hero Dynamight" and the kids who did not like one of his parents refused to associate with him. Some of his teachers put an unfair amount of pressure on him to excel and some have prejudice against him because of his parents. Being public figures as they are, Pro Heroes Dynamight and Shouto also were not free from the media and unfavorable public opinions that also affected Akira in some capacity.To put it simply, Akira just grew up a little too quickly. He's very perceptive and started becoming more aware of the reality of being a hero much earlier than a kid should have. For that reason, he lost sight of why he wanted to be a hero in the first place and started questioning what his own goals are that aren't just influenced by other people. His outlook changed as he got a taste of what the real world is really like, what people with bad intentions are capable of at first-hand experience. The constant comparisons also took a toll on Akira, particularly since his motivations as a hero aren't as high or intense as Katsuki's, who always wants to be the best and strives to be Number One.Overall, Akira just wants his individuality, to figure out who he is and what kind of hero he wants to be. Changing his hairstyle was simply the first step to breaking away from things that are holding him back. As much as he is suffering, he also doesn't want to tell his parents what he's going through so this almost just seems like a rebellious phase. He doesn't hate Katsuki and never did; yet there is some strain to their relationship because of this so they aren't as close as they used to be. As Akira grew up, there were also certain aspects of Katsuki that clashed with his own personality. That and coupled with being compared to his parents (more prominently Katsuki) and just wanting to be his own person, he opted to dissociate in that sense. But the love and respect for Katsuki never went away, he just grew up a bit and is being a teenager. (See: Father-Son Dynamic: Katsuki's Side)When did he officially change his hairstyle?
— He made the decision on his Middle School graduation, right before entering UA.What inspires him to be a hero?
— Most of it is rooted in his quest for self-discovery at first. Being the son of two high-ranking Pro Heroes, it only seemed natural that he would follow in their footsteps. Akira does want to be a hero, to be as amazing as his parents are, but the people who inspired him to pursue this hero career are also the reason why he feels crushed by the weight of expectations. The more he became aware of the world, the more he also started questioning his sense of self. More than anything, he wants to be recognized for his own strength, as his own person, not simply for where he came from. Akira hopes U.A. will help him figure that out.What is Akira's relationship with Endeavor? Does he know about Shouto's scar? How much does he know about the Todoroki family drama?
— (This answer is on the assumption that Enji doesn't die in canon and has mellowed out as a retired #1 hero.) Akira first found out about the Todoroki family's past from outside sources during Middle School. A lot of the Todoroki family's issues had already been aired out a long time ago by the eldest Todoroki son (Touya), but even then, Shouto did not want to tell Akira the full details of it so soon in his desire to preserve Akira's innocence and childhood as much as he can. He just wanted Akira to be a normal kid and live his days happily before officially entering the scene of hero work. Akira has heard bits and pieces from other people, but none that have been really confirmed by Shouto nor Katsuki, and more importantly, he doesn't know the true reason for Shouto's scar yet as of pre-UA timeline. Akira is curious about his family's past from Shouto's side, but understands why this is being kept as a secret from him. He doesn't press for that information either and brushes off any kind of rumors that are thrown his way since he's willing to wait for when Shouto is ready to tell him the full story himself.In regards to what Akira thinks of Enji, he respects him as the former #1 hero and they have a fairly okay relationship even though they don't meet very often outside of special occasions. Shouto wanted Akira to form his own opinions about his grandfather and did not restrict Enji from being that to Akira on the condition that Enji doesn't pressure Akira when it comes to hero stuff. This doesn't entirely sit well with Katsuki though, especially during family reunions and such, but remains civil and does not say anything to Akira either out of respect for Shouto's wishes. That said, being the grandson of the former #1 Hero, Akira once again feels internally pressured by the expectations of being in such a successful family of top Pro Heroes.Who is his favorite dad?
— Akira loves them equally. He has just always been much softer with Shouto because Shouto is the more openly affectionate and doting father. (See: Father-Son Dynamic: Shouto's Side)Is he close with his other family members aside from his parents?
— He is pretty close to Mitsuki and Fuyumi, having been left in their care a lot when Katsuki and Shouto aren't home.Will Akira have other siblings?
— For the "canon" timeline, Akira will not have any other siblings. As a child, Akira had to stay with his relatives a lot (usually with Masaru and Mitsuki, or Fuyumi) during the peak of Katsuki's and Shouto's hero careers. Both of them regret losing all that time with Akira, so now that things aren't as hectic and demanding as they used to be when they were still interns, they have a bit more time to spend with him. They agree to focus more on Akira and make it up to him, especially now that he's on his path to being a hero. (But I love and welcome Akira being AU siblings with other lovekids!! Be it BKTDBK or half siblings with other ships' kids!)What would he be if he didn't pursue a hero career?
— With his quirk, Akira can't really see himself being anything but a hero. But if he didn't have one, he would probably work in a cafe or have his own tea company.How did his quirk manifest?
— It manifested in their backyard when Akira accidentally froze one of his toys, which later exploded and destroyed the toy. Katsuki was very pleased that Akira also has an explosion quirk in some way.What are the drawbacks/limitations of his quirk?

— He can but he won't! Akira has a high tolerance for salt so he doesn't get sick from consuming so much of it, but he is still human and just eating a spoon of salt wouldn't be a pleasant experience for him. In any case, that's the fastest way to refuel him and he does have a supply of it in his hero suit for when he's running low, though it's only for emergencies and he would like to not resort to that if he can. This is why he usually eats snacks instead as slow replenishment for his quirk.How did he learn how to cook?
— Katsuki taught him how to cook at a young age and Akira also had a lot of time to practice on his own. With both him and Shouto out for work a lot, Katsuki wanted to make sure Akira never starved when they needed to be away for extended periods of time, so Akira is quite competent in the kitchen.What is his favorite thing to do with his parents?
— Specifically eating nabe together. With his parents' busy schedule, Akira always treasures the times they can spend time together, especially when they get to have a meal with all three of them present at the table.How popular is Akira in school?
— Anyone who knows about heroes knows about Akira and his popularity is predominantly because of his parents. The "idol" status was more prevalent in Middle School though and not so much in U.A. (which Akira really appreciates). Nevertheless, there are many eyes on him because they want to see how he'll turn out (and there are some who get close to him because of his parents - for good and bad reasons).Does Akira make friends easily or is he unsociable?
— Since his parents are very well-known, people are automatically drawn to him by the association. Akira is a bit of an introvert, but he doesn't turn away from good company. Though just as easily, he will turn people away if they get on his bad side. It's mostly a matter of finding someone who genuinely wants to be his friend without any ulterior motives, which proved to be difficult in his younger years so he has his guard up and appears unfriendly at first.Does he hate being called "Bakugou" by other people?
— Not at all, he just prefers to be called by his first name.What does he think about relationships? Is he interested in dating?
— Dating isn't at the forefront of his mind, but he wouldn't be averse to it if the right person comes along. He just had a difficult time finding and maintaining friendships when he was young, so he feels unsure about romantic relationships all the more.What is his type?
— Someone who is genuine.What is his sexual orientation?
— He is leaning towards being demisexual.Does he also have anger issues like Katsuki?
— Akira's anger is more silent than explosive. It builds up like a ticking time bomb, and then he turns into an almost different person with his sharp but curt words and intimidating demeanor. Rather than taking it out on people though, he's the type to isolate himself until he calms down if that's an option he can take.Does the BKTD family have any pets?
— I want to say they have Chiwacchan and Shoutocat as pets, haha! But otherwise, they have a white female cat; I may draw her with Akira one day.What is his clothing style?
— His usual style can be described as either Smart Casual or Casual Chic. He often gets clothes as gifts from Masaru and Mitsuki since both of them work in the fashion industry which influences his style as well. Sometimes Fuyumi gets him Pro Hero Shouto merch and apparel and he has no problem using them as loungewear. Akira also has a lot of hats which he does pick out himself.How would Akira react to his classmates seeing his natural spiky hair?
— Akira will grumble about it if they keep pointing out that he looks like Dynamight with his hair, but that's as far as it goes. He doesn't intend for his natural hair to be a secret nor is he ashamed of it. He knows that people will see him with his natural hair eventually, or maybe they already have through the internet pictures of him when he was younger.Will you make more love children for other ships?
— Not at the moment! I do have an OC that I want to draw eventually who is in Akira's class and is important to his story, but they are not a lovechild of any canon characters.Will Akira get together with Zen?
— So far they are just friends! Some people like shipping them together though which I don't mind at all. They do have a very fun relationship that I want to expand on some time soon when I finish their "first meeting" comic.Is Akira a top or a bottom?
